Pink Lakes

After many years of continuous  drought, the Pink Lakes of SW New South Wales were salt encrusted. By lying on the salt covered mud, I was able to get an extremely low viewpoint for my lenses.  The stunning thing to realise is that these " trees" are rarely more than a foot(30cm") high. The saltbush was already reddish, and with the white salt looking like snow, the idea of bonsai cherry blossom was irresistable. Islands surrounded by surf, and wild mountain streams appeared in 40 degrees centigrade heat, exaggerating the parodox between the illusion and reality.

When I returned to take more photos a month later, the salt was gone, and the mud soft. It had rained,and the algae had turned the lakes pink again. No more photos!
